Motorsports and a cloud of dust
There are plenty of rally events held up and down the counrty throughout the year and every so often I have the urge to go along and catch the action. This one was in a field on the way to Nottingham. It's one of the dustiest events I've ever been to and really pays to have a camera like the K10D with weatherproof seal. You also really need a zoom as change lenses with all that dust flying would be a nightmare for the sensor.
The dust caused problems when shooting sequences on corners becasue as soon as the first car screached round the bend you were left with the rest ploughing through a cloud of dense dust. I normally like to practise on the first car and in this situation the first had to be best.
