There are patterns all around us, you just have to open your eyes. The examples on this page are obvious - rooftops, windows, metal panels, even a patchwork of farm fields. Use a macro lens and you will find thousands more in fruit, leaves, insects etc. The key to a good pattern pic is repetition. Shoot things with repeating shapes and you will produce fabulous abstracts that are pleasing to view, and could make good artwork for your wall. The shots here are all carefully composed to deliver maximum impact. Try shooting patterns yourself with the following subjects:
- Sliced orange
- Rooftiles
- Macro shots of leaves
- Close up of a section of carpet
- Cropped shot of a hay bale
- The grill of a vintage car
- A mosaic floor
