Photo365 – Day 347 – hedgehog

13. 12. 2011 at 17:44

Two hedgehogs drowned in my small “wildlife friendly” pond last year. I hope this one survives. He’s close to a fairly busy road and a field, so turn the wrong way and he may be a pancake, go the other and he has a vast area to enjoy.

iphone and hipstamatic from the ground shot.

Photo365 – Day 346 – Studio 109

12. 12. 2011 at 18:03

I walk past this hairdresser most days. It’s usually very dull in the evening and in the day has someone having a silver blue rinse or perm. But over the last few weeks a couple of small illuminated trees in each window and a curtain trail of lights have transformed it to make it look quite pretty…sadly not clearly shown in this snap on the iPhone. The new white illuminated view is pleasant on my daily journey.

Photo365 – Day 345 – Light Shades

11. 12. 2011 at 21:45

While in B&Q looking for a security light I decided to photograph a few of their light shades. iPhone and Hipstamatic. This was my favourite of the series.

Photo365 – Day 344 – Empowerment

10. 12. 2011 at 22:21

Empowerment is the title of this sculpture over the Brayford near the Waterside Shopping centreĀ  in Lincoln. There’s a standard view of this so I tried to get it from a different angle…below. I don’t think this angle actually works as well, but I like the pigeons.

Photo365 – Day 343 – Eat Soup

09. 12. 2011 at 18:43

Today was very different to yesterday, but similar.

Yesterday I was in Covent Garden
Today I wasn’t, but had totally coincidental a carton of Covent Garden Soup

Yesterday I was outside in the cold
Today I was inside and warm

Yesterday I was looking at a lovely Christmas tree
Today I don’t have a tree up yet so the nearest thing was a conifer in the garden

Yesterday it was dry
Today it was raining

And my photo of the day sums up the above – It’s a photo of the carton of soup, taken inside in the warmth, looking through a window to the outside conifer with rain on the window.

btw have you tried that soup? I’d not had it before there are some interesting flavours.

Photo365 – Day 342 – Apple Market

09. 12. 2011 at 00:10

I’m just back from London following a night out with Samsung for their Christmas party. Before we went to their venue Tracey and I called at Covent Garden. They have a huge Christmas tree but I’ve already photographed two in this Photo365 series, so here’s a shot of the Apple Market (also looking quite festive at the moment) close by.

Photo365 – Day 341 – The Arsenal Trees

07. 12. 2011 at 20:49

I’m just back from a six hour round trip to pick up an eBay win that I bid on and didn’t expect to win.

On the way back I called for a pee break at the Hatfield Galleria in Herts and spotted a new shop. The Arsenal Store.

It opened on 19 Nov 2011 and had a bright window display with a red Christmas tree decorated with white baubles and a white tree with red baubles.

I took a quick snap without attracting security attention because I understand they’re quite sharp in there.

Photo365 – Day 340 – Christmas Lights

06. 12. 2011 at 18:39

The Worksop town centre street illuminations went up last week. This is a sample on the pedestrian area of Bridge Street. The iPhone isn’t great for this type of photography, but I probably wouldn’t have taken a photo of the lights otherwise.

Photo365 – Day 339 – The Savoy

05. 12. 2011 at 23:32

While at Donna Nook I spotted this interesting textured cabbage…the Savoy (Capitata var. sabauda L.). In the supermarket they’re normally less interesting, but a farmer sells fresh produce at the car park field of Donna Nook. You also find sprouts on the stem etc.

I thought it would make in interesting photo so bought one for just 50p

I placed it on a plastic table and backlit it with my home made ring light. The centre of the cabbage was dark so I lit that with the Joby Gorilla Torch. Exposure was 8 seconds at f/22 with ISO400 (I forgot to set that back to ISO100!) on the Olympus Pen E-P2 with 14-42mm lens.

Photo365 – Day 338 – Snoozing Seal

04. 12. 2011 at 21:56

I went over to Donna Nook today…it was cold! I had about six layers on and still had a chill. The seals were plentiful, despite last week’s unexpected high tide which split many pups up from their mums. This one seemed happy enough snoozing on a patch of grass. It was raining and you can just see a few drops as blurred streaks in the background.

Taken with the Olympus Pen E-P2 and 40-150mm lens at the 150mm setting
ISO400 1/640sec at f/5.6.
