Film Star

21. 03. 2009 at 23:18

Last year I spent a day in the company of actor Tom Hardy, film director Nicolas Refn, film crew and several other actors. I’d applied for a role as a film extra and got the job. It was a cold day in Loughborough at Stanford Hall. My roll was a prison guard for the film Bronson, out on release last Friday, 13 Mar 2009 and already winning awards (I’d like to take all the credit ;-) ).

I saw the film tonight and after a long wait and am pleased to say my short burst as an actor did not end up on the cutting floor. Sadly I wish I’d held my stomach in as I escort Bronson across the corridor for release from prison. Proud owner of a one pack – I look pregnant! I appear again in a scene a few minutes later. It’s a view from behind and shows my crown. I never realised how much I look like my dad until I saw the back view.

It took all day to film two scenes and delivered about 5 seconds of screen time. As a huge David Bowie fan in the seventies I am please that my film début lasted longer than his in Virgin Soldiers, where he’s pushed across the screen in the briefest of glimpses. The documentaries had to freeze frame his scene so you knew it was him.

After the film I hung back to view the credits only to see my name was misspelt as Peter Barry. Full marks to the production team!

Finally wrote some music

21. 11. 2008 at 12:17

I’ve finally got around to creating some music, inspired by litening to some stuff I did many years ago while building a web site dedicated to mein glasfabrik. The first is a very short piece but I find it quite soothing. I’ve added it to my about me page on the site.
And then there’s a longer piece here: TempleWood
Hope you enjoy

First Blurb book published

11. 10. 2008 at 00:34

I’ve just had a go at publishing a book using Blurb and I have to say it’ s a really simple and fun experience. The whole thing took me a couple of nights. The software is incredibly easy to use and gives you a good amount of flexibility on choice of font and design. I chose the theme on Avebury’s Stone Circle and called the book “the Stones of Avebury” . Take a look the link’s in the panel below.

Something’s wrong with my SEO

08. 08. 2008 at 23:23

I mentioned a while ago that my site had slipped rankings to page 8 of Google. Well now it’s on page 13. So how come a site with the url that just has Bargh in it; and meta data with Bargh; and the keyword Bargh; and pics with alt tags of Bargh, and  the whole site content about Bargh ends up on page 13? I’m lost as to the reason. I’ve even made the whole site validated. I believe it’s either because I added a site map (maybe incorrectly) or some thing odd is going on!

Anyone got any suggestions?

Mastering the art of SEO

12. 07. 2008 at 07:19

I’ve read loads about SEO now…and decided to have a go at making this site better optimised. It was, for a while, number one in Google when you type “Bargh”, but dropped after I made comments about a fraud company. The particular blog page was removed from Google and I have a sneaky suspicion several other pages were affected because the site fell rapidly to page two.

So lets attempt to get it back to the top where it belongs.  I made sure every page has a page title, that all the photos have alt tags, that the pages are validated, that there are enough keywords to make it really clear that this site is about me.  I created a site Map, told Google to look at this, removed the forum that had loads of spam id’s indexed, and then waited expecting to see an improvement. In less than 24 hours the site dropped to page 7 and has stayed there since! I’ve done somthing wrong and haven’t a clue, but when searching for Bargh you cannot get any more bargh than me or my personal web site so I want to be reinstated on the first page! Now!…. Please ;-)

Nominated for Princeton Premier Business Leaders and Professionals Honors Edition

19. 05. 2008 at 21:54

Wow I cannot believe it Peter Bargh has reached the dizzy heights of being considered for inclusion into the 2008-2009 Princeton Premier Business Leaders and Professionals Honors Edition section of the registry.

The what?????

After a quick Google search it seem that half the internet has also been considered for inclusion into the 2008-2009 Princeton Premier Business Leaders and Professionals Honors Edition section of the registry.

Oh well it sounded good for about as long as it does to hear you’ve won the European Lottery, a holiday in two to Nigeria or a deluxe penis enlarger.

Walks off singing a well know Monty Python song…

LocalGame Shop – avoid – scam

05. 05. 2008 at 12:33

Interesting?

So I post a thread uncovering a scam. It gets to number one in Google Search. And then disappears. Now I am not even listed in the search for this post. What happend? Are Google supporting crooks, has it been reported? All my other blog post are unaffected. What’s going on?

Incidentally I’ve also start getting lots of spam – all on that one post. Well just to clarify LocalGame Shop offering four super console deals is not legit and you WILL lose your money. This will get to the top of search engine…how long will it stay this time I wonder?

The company are still appearing on price comparison stores as incredibly good value. Just to repeat this is not a good deal. You WILL lose your money. See my previous blog post for full details.

Of course If I’m wrong please post in this thread, I’d love to hear from someone who has got their goods

LocalGame Shop – AVOID!

28. 04. 2008 at 18:45

Well following my recent post about being scammed by a web site that appeared offering superb deals on Nintendo Wiis and XBoxes, it looks like the crooks who operated recently as rapidgamingstore are back again with the same scam. Different web site, but same stock, same convincing deals, same convincing service, trusted money back offers etc, and same town, but a different address.

LocalGame Store offers New Nintendo Wii “Ultimate Gaming Pack” Video Game System comprising

Nintendo Wii Console
Wii Stand
5 Wii Sports Games: Baseball, Bowling, Boxing, Golf, and Tennis
Remote and Nun-Chuck
Sensor Bar
Power and AV Cables
User Manual

Along with 10 games including:

Wii Sports
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Marve: Ultimate Aliance
Need for Speed: Carbon
SD Gundam: Scad Hammers
The Legend of Zeda: Twilight Princess
Tony Hawk?s Downhill Jam
Metal Slug Anthology
Trauma Center: Second Opinion

All for just £106 – the catch is you have to buy 5, well the real catch is they will not turn up, and in a couple of months when they’ve fleeced enough suckers the site will disappear along with any form of contact and any sign of your gear.

Black Nab shipwreck

18. 04. 2008 at 23:15

I was over at Saltwick Bay on the North Coast last weekend photographing the wreck near the Black Nab Rock. It made me wonder if there was any history surrounding the boat. Sadly little information seems to be around the web on the subject. A couple of people have mentioned patchy details about it on the ePHOTOzine site. And there’s even a shot taken just three years after the boat capsized here.

The most information I could find was on the Whitby Lifeboat Station History page which states that a
Silver Medal awarded to Coxswain Robert Allen and the Bronze Medal awarded to Helmsman Richard Robinson for rescuing a survivor of the fishing vessel Admiral Van Tromp, which was wrecked after grounding on the Black Nab Rock in thick fog, an easterly wind, and a heavy breaking sea on 30 September 1976. When a survivor was seen on a rock Helmsman Robinson drove the D class lifeboat in at full speed, onto a ledge, and the man was grabbed just as a large sea broke over the rock and washed the boat back into the sea.

Black Nab at Saltwick Bay is well worth a visit, but watch for the tide. It comes in fast and you can easily get trapped!

High Royds lunatic asylum, Menston

15. 03. 2008 at 00:10

A tale of Urban Un-exploration
There’s a guy on our ePHOTOzine called Tom who’s an urban explorer and posted up some great shots of the lunatic asylum at High Royds. There are some superb arches, eerie corridors, fabulous windows and great staircases. It’s a photographer’s paridise. So rather than risk the security guards I thought I’d write to ask permission to take a few legal shots.
The reply was Unfortunately we cannot allow anyone on site now because of our ongoing building works and health and safety considerations.”

I suggested I’d waiver all legal claims should anything happen and said I’d just need a couple of hours and act responsibly.

But the answer was still no. Sadly I won’t be able to capture the images, so have to thank the guys on sites like 28Days Later for their bold efforts.
