A bearded bloke is going to cross my path…
I started taking photos with the poppy head attached to the stalk with the sky behind…using flash and underexposing the cloudy sky, then I moved over to the glass patio table. The bare shots look pretty average so I printed out one of my colourful poppy shots and propped that up behind the head so the reflection appeared behind the head. That looked ok, but not what I wanted to share here. So then I tipped out some seeds and photographed the head with seeds. And then I moved a few around and started to create the face…and ended up with this shot with the sky reflected in the table as the backdrop.
I do enjoy messing around with ideas. It was taken with the Pentax K5 and 16-45mm lens.
I nipped over to see David (discreetphoton) at Costco in Sheffield where his camera club was holding an exhibition. On the way out I decided to treat myself to a sumptuous meal – jacket potato and chilli for a wallet denting price of £1.25. It was a huge potato filled with chilli – I couldn’t eat it all. How on earth they can manage such prices beats me.
I took a photo using the iphone of the one of the assistants who looks as though she’s about to club someone to death.
My first real computer was an Apple Mac Classic. It had a 40Mb hard disk and 1Mb RAM. You had to go to weird shops in out of town industrial estates where you had to make appointments to visit. Software was unheard. That was 1991. Over the years I stuck with the brand and went through various models…occasionally it would seem like they were taking some market share, especially in blips where PC World stocked one model and a few bits of software. Something happened a few years ago with the introduction of cool iPods and glossy Macbooks and then came the iPhone that turned things around. Now you can’t move for Apple products…and I have a brace of items.
So today, as homage, I’ve photographed part of my older Apple G4 Powerbook with the iPhone 4 and used a new hipstamatic lens I just downloaded.
Currently spending time travelling back and forward on a road with a toll bridge. This man sits in a box several hours each day collecting 30p from every car driver. If a driver doesn’t have 30p he has to turn back. It’s been known for the toll collector to ask other drivers to pay for one without any money who doesn’t want to turn back.

A self portrait of sorts. I was in a room and noticed a reflection from a mirror hitting the wall and creating a rainbow shaped letter H. I took a few pics of that and spotted that the actual window light was also strong and part of my shadow was in the frame so I repositioned myself and balanced the shot creating this result.
